We have Babies!

This is the first year I have had hanging baskets on my porch, and I am so glad I do! A sweet little Finch couple decided to make one of those baskets a home for their nest and we now have I believe 4 sweet baby birdies!


Day 1: 2 Babies are hatched! It looks like 2 more to go. I can't even make out what is what in these pics just lots of fluff.

Day 4:  Not much difference here, but looks like only 1 baby to go!

Day 6: They look like baby birds!!  But I can only make out 2, but you have to understand I am standing on a stool and very gently tilting the basket while watching to make sure the mama doesn't come attack my head and holding the camera up and angles to attempt to get a good pic!  So this may not be telling their whole story. And it looks like there's still an egg in there???  Does that mean it's not going to develop? I really know nothing about this stuff...

But they are PRECIOUS!  And I love having the opportunity to watch new life.  It warms my heart everyday when I see the daddy bird bring food to the mama and the babies, and seriously, they had visitors!!  I kid you not, about day 2 or 3, I looked out my kitchen window and there were 4 adult birds in my basket.  2 couples, 2 brown females, and to red breasted and crowned males.  Their friends were coming to admire their sweet babies!! I love it!!
