Is it worth it??

That's the question I was faced with a couple of days ago on my dear sweet husbands birthday.  Here I am with a not quite 2 y/o and a 9 week old and even though I did not forget my husbands birthday, I also did not plan anything...every time I asked what he wanted to do, he just said I don't know...so I get up on Jan 26th after being up most of the night with a newborn with a tummy ache and as Jay is leaving for work Jude is screaming his head off AGAIN, and I forget to even say "Happy Birthday Honey"...SO a little later I remember what day it is and call him immediately and hopefully redeem myself...so I spend basically the rest of the day trying to figure out something nice to do for him...So finally I decide to get some really nice steaks from NY Butcher Shoppe, and make the homemade dressing we just discovered and love, for a salad, and me and Annalee were going to bake him a cake...Well, that's all fine and good, but as some of you know when you have 2 this small, it creates a unique situation for trying to get things done, just getting in and out of the car to go to the butcher AND the grocery store because of course I did not have what I needed in the house...plus coordinating it all around feeding and nap times was no small feat...plus Annalee woke up very grumpy and was not particularly interested in helping me with the cake, and when she did, she basically just poked holes in it... and so I have to admit that for a second I did contemplate not doing it at all, and asked myself is it worth it??????  And the answer was ABSOLUTELY!  My husband deserves all of that and more...so I went a step further, and dressed myself and the kids up for the occasion, and put out the linen tablecloth, and our best china and candles...He's TOTALLY worth it, and I am so thankful to be married to him, and I would do it over and over!

He did however have to make his own steaks, as I am not a griller!!
