Egg Dying and Hunting= Easter??

Just got my Easter pictures together and realized that they are all of either egg dying or egg hunting...hmmm, not exactly what what Easter means to us...so before the pictures, let me share some of the meaningful things we did this year.

A few days before Easter I made empty tomb rolls and hot cross buns which gave me the perfect opportunity to talk to the kids about what Easter is really about.

The empty tomb rolls were a HUGE hit. You take a marshmallow, roll it in melted butter and roll it up in a crescent roll, after you bake it the marshmallow will have melted and will leave an empty space in the middle...the kids absolutely loved it!

Annalee got to participate for the 2nd year in Journey to the Cross at church, where there are different stations set up all around the kids area that take you through the Jesus' journey, including a sin room, where you look at sins written on a black walls and put pebbles in your shoes for the ones you have committed, and you walk with them there through all the other rooms where you meet Jesus, and learn about how he is the light of the world, and you see the empty tomb and taste the salty tears and eventually you end up at the cross where you can wash your sins in his cleansing water, and you take your pebbles out of your shoes and put them in the water...I'm sure Im not doing it justice, but it is a great and moving time for the kids.

PLUS!  We did dye eggs and have an awesome meal and Egg Hunt with Family :)
