Or lovie, as we have called her for about the past 2 years...until just recently when Annalee renamed her...we have no idea where the name Yah Yah came from, but she is most definitely Yah Yah...
And she (I call it a she...it is pink after all) is Annalee's most beloved possession. A lot of kids have a comfort item, and this is Annalee's.No matter what Annalee is doing , you can bet Yah Yah is somewhere close by, and when she can't find her, she walks through the house saying "yah yah...are you???"
We do not take Yah Yah out of the house for fear of losing her somewhere. This happened to my nephew Adam when he was about her age...they took Teddy to the mall, and that was all she wrote, he was never to be found again...very heartbreaking...

We have also considered buying a duplicate as a back up just in case, but of course, they are no longer producing them, but you can buy one on ebay for low low price of $50....which is total extortion as it is an $8 item, and I think the people selling them at that price are the devil, because they know desperate people who's little one's have lost there "yah yah's" would pay just about anything to for a replacement...it's very sad...so alas, yah yah doesn't leave the house, and she only get washed occasionally in hopes of preserving her, as she is looking a little ratty...
She really is quite disgusting, permanently stained along the edges where Annalee rubs over and over, missing an eye, and she has a permanent smell that washing just doesn't get out...but we love her just the same, and we will never be abe to remember these early years with Annalee with out thinking of Yah Yah...

The sad thing is one day she will grow out of having to have her lovey, her Yah yah...Grace still has all her nite-nite's, but they are pretty much pushed all the way down under her covers or stuffed in a corner....no longer needed, no longer loved on. I find it sad, my little girl growing up. That nasty ratty Yah yah will mean so much more to you in a few years than it ever did to Annalee right now. Cherish it...she will grow up, but you will always have the precious memories of her and Yah yah!
ReplyDeleteI know!! It is a little sad, thankfully I'm not there yet, and I just can't even go there right now :sniff:
ReplyDeleteKeely has a lovie too, and she zipped it up in a little purse of hers once and it was lost for over a week. The expression on her face when she finally found it while playing w/ that purse was priceless! ;) She'd be devastated if we lost it. We do bring hers out with us, and luckily haven't lost it yet. It has been dropped in stores a few times, but luckily we've gone back and found it!!
ReplyDeleteI don't know what we would do if we lost yah yah for a whole week! I'm afraid there would be some serious screaming at bed time for a while!
